Ride sharing is where you can ask for a ride, like calling a taxi, but via your smartphone. Taxi Companies in Austin are upset about how it does not follow the same paying or other regulations that they do which makes it unbalanced/unfair. Some people believe this is a completely fine idea and want the ride sharing to happen rather others aren't on the same boat. It's quite a controversy at the moment in Austin between the people, ride-sharing companies, and taxi companies.
