"Watercooler" Opinion:
The use of drones in public places is an iffy subject in my opinion. I believe it can be an invasion of privacy personally, being the type of person who is very cautious on what's going on and not always wanting people to see me or take photos of me. But when it comes to the student being suspended..? No, I don't agree with that. The student didn't know what he was doing was wrong. He simply just wanted to take photos of the stadium. I believe that wasn't the greatest option to take photos that way for all the controversy about drones and using them in public, but I don't think suspension was necessary. Maybe some sort of ticket, a talking to, or possibly a warning… but if he didn't know I don't think suspension was necessary. In the future when drones are more popular and updated I think the use of them could become a problem. Not everyone wants a camera panning over them or taking photos of them. I feel as if privacy is going to be the most troubled issue for people and drone-users. As usage goes and who gets the privilege to use them, I think private owners can of course have them- it's a free country. As long as they have permission from authorities or people who they will be recording or taking photos of then it should be fine in my opinion. Government officials should definitely use them for their special reasons… but detaining the people from being able to own them privately? No, I don't agree with that.
